Coldwater predators?

thanks for the replys but pickerel and pike and muskie are esox so illegal , I research the other fish mentioned , New to coldwater fish keeping, so thanks everyone. REdding is only 2-3 hours south of the california oregon border so far nor cal.

Pickerel, pike and musky are all esox, read before you post as these are on the list of illegals ;)

Well what about walleye or a sauger, they are pretty aggressive. If you don't mind something a little smaller a yellow perch. Yellow perch have great colors for a cold water fish. Even a rock bass might be cool.

I don't know if they are legal to keep, but your native squawfishes (Ptychocheilus) species are spectacular large pike-like minnows. The giant Colorado squawfish is endangered and certainly unavailable, but the Sacramento squawfish may be legal to keep. It reaches about 36", sometimes more.
 
Thanks eveyone I Have decided to stay with my channel cat for now but when i get the room Ill hunt down so yarlli catfish and sterlet, the yarlli is cold water enough for me, will probably need a chiller, and is plenty mean .
