Thanks eveyone I Have decided to stay with my channel cat for now but when i get the room Ill hunt down so yarlli catfish and sterlet, the yarlli is cold water enough for me, will probably need a chiller, and is plenty mean .
Hey man, I live in Redding too, small world huh? I don't suggest any true "cold" water species as it gets 100+ here for 8 months out of 12 here. I say keep the bass, maybe get a few species of sunfish. I usually fish at mary lake and they are nasty lil bastards. They even hit my larger baits. Sometimes I'll go there just to catch them and I put a very tiny hook on, throw a salmon egg on, and just drop it right in front of me real close to shore. I catch a ton that way. They range in a lot of different sizes so you can catch whatever size you need there hehe. And yes, as there is no limit/size limit on the sunfish in there other than the bass, you can keep em as small as you want.

Your options are getting slim...Are you looking for something so predatory that you will only be able to keep just one specimen in the pond?

As I have mentioned before I live in Redding, and I keep Oscars in my pond during summer. As for winter, the plants all die and its freezing out, so there isn't much looking at the pond being done....

I used to keep arowanas and pbass too but feeding them got a little too $$ for my liking.

If there is any pike at all that is legal here in cali that's what I would go with if unable to house large tropical fish indoors for the winter.

a school of crappie would be cool. walleye would be cool but are pretty shy in the wild, so i would guess they are even worse in captivity.

ya it may be frozen but in a heated pullbarn i can have a MASSIVE pond or a "lake" even with just about anything i want in it:naughty: if i move to the rural area that is my next project:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 pond/lake dim-50'x75'x6' it's goodt:ROFL:

unfortunately alll esox are illegal eeven the one asian one, and it gets to hot for sturgeon so am good for now with my channel but she seems to want to think she is a koi instaed of a catfish , odd , but Ill wait till I get a larger pond to keep anything truly agresive thanks everyone.
