Collection in eastern Panama.

Very true, but because its brief, if I bring up anything native or endemic, even if they are not cichlids (and small enough to not max my 180) it'll be kept, whether its some tetras, mollies, or killifish.
The only thing I won't keep, would be an invassive.

Looks like fun, either way!

Just a thought: Instead of focusing on river and larger bodies of water, check out puddles, streams and the like. It's amazing to discover what's living in some of those kind of places.

Yes my collection kit also has simple hand nets.

I have been wanting to see Rivulus uroflammeus (flame killifish) live and in the flesh, and even Anableps, and a smaller water source might just be the place.
Todays casting practice in the pacific shore was less sardinic, but did bring up a little.
