Oh come on John you old grinch. I was going to suggest to him that licence plates might not look too good in an indoor display tank, but would look spectacular in an outdoor pond!!

Call it a little subliminal encouragement, though to be fair I think our young comrade is somewhat passed that now, lol.

Are you suggesting that the Shadow has outgrown his vulnerability to reverse child psychology?

That would indeed be a shame...but I think we're safe for awhile yet...:)

I think a licence plate in a tank would look like crap...but the same plate, carefully sealed in clear-coat, might look outsanding if displayed at the bottom of a nice backyard pond...

Of course, that means a lot of work. Might be easier to just clear-coat and use the entire bumper...:)

There we go, that's the spirit. A bit of gentle persuasion . Us senior statesmen, and of course you're far more senior than I, should do all we can to nurture and develop raw talent which is obviously abundant in "spades" in our young surfer dude friend.

See what I did there, another subliminal poke in the right direction. Get digging surfer dude....and watch your feet!!

Yep...time to get out those Safety Crocs and a pair of Lady Playtex work gloves and have at it! :)

Books. I love reading, and when I am home I prefer to read an actual printed book as opposed to reading on an e-reader. Not a collector, per se...more of an accumulator...:) These are some of my hardcovers; when I moved out of Ontario I sold just over 3000 paperbacks, just wouldn't have room for them in my current little house. The third pic is my collection of books on birds and birding.

Backfromthedead Backfromthedead , I like your knives. I accumulate those as well. I have one of those beautiful Cold Steel Taipans as well, along with a bunch of other big ones; always have one with me when I go on an early-morning walk with the dog.

What is that oldster on the far left? Looks like some old model of Puma? Old genuine stag handle scales on it? Very nice.

If I got caught with a blade on me whilst walking the dog, even quite a small blade, I could face up to 4 years in prison, although a heavy fine would probably be more likely, unless I'd threatened someone with it, and then the jail term would stand.

I have a small knife in my fishing tackle box and often wondered what would happen if the knife police, or whatever they're called, would turn up lakeside and do random knife checks on all the anglers!!

I'd like to think we'd get special dispensation. Knife and gun laws in the UK are savage.

We can't have a knife with a large blade...I think that means anything over about 4 inches?...if it's concealed. But visibly clipped to your pocket, or in a sheath on the belt, it is...so far, at least...legal.

Mind you, a cop stopping me at dusk on a deserted country road with my dog, miles from the nearest house...would look at the situation somewhat differently than if I were jogging down Yonge St. in Toronto...although there are plenty of "wild critters" in both locales...
