Colombian Sharks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only "monster" fish I have are the jack dempseys and the Oscar ( I don't count the plecos because when they get fairly large I sell them and always have) and all these fish I can easily accommodate for when I get my 75 gallon the turtles and Oscar will go in there then the jack dempseys will go in my 125 unless they are both males then I'll get a female and sell one male or I might do reverse which I probably will do where I put the jds in a 75 and the Oscar and turtles in the 125 I have to see first

Now that I get a better idea of your stock, this is what I'd do if I had your tanks and stock.

120 - Use the 120 for a grow out tank for the oscar and two jack dempseys. Eventually you will have to make some choices on who to keep, or trade out, but for awhile this is a good option.

55 - Get rid of the turtles if you can't get a bigger tank, a way bigger tank - or if they are tiny hatchlings right now, keep them in a 55 gallon for awhile and grow them out a bit. Eventually these will outgrow even a 125 if you keep all three. You can probably keep a single turtle for quite a long time in a 75 though.

29 - Keep the tetras you have, keep 2 plecos, trade out the rest for a couple more tetras that are compatible and it's full.

10 - Forget about breeding rosy reds, get something nice and easy for this tank, like a 5 platies if you want the occasional feeder fish. Platies will breed easy, easy to maintain and aren't bad feeders. You'll have something nice and colorful to watch when not using them as feeders. Not to mention, it's much healthier to just use commercial pelleted foods than to use feeders all the time, just use them as a treat.

I will repost my updated stock and not including baby snails which are offspring from my breeding tank of snails

55 gallon
2 jack dempseys under 3" around 2"
3 juvenile red eared sliders

29 gallon (Growout for my 55 except the tetras who will stay in here)
6 buenos aires tetras
2 bleeding heart tetras
1 albino Oscar 2.5"
3 plecostomus 2-3"
1 Chinese algae eater 2"
11 rosey red minnows (dilters for the Oscar they are decreasing in numbers every day so soon they will be gone

10 gallon hexagon (rosey red breeding tank)
11-15 rosey red minnows for breeding but keep dying off randomly idk why my ph might be high in there I have to check but only two died out of the original 14 I think I don't even remember I have so many

1 full grown res will need a 70 gallon 4ft aquarium at for the minimum. I recommend that you move the Oscar and pleco in the 120 gallon aquarium. Well if that is a common pleco.

The female res need 90 gallon aquarium the males need 70 gallon aquariums.

The 10 gallons per inch of turtle is only valid if you have over a 10 inch turtle and the female and two males will do more than fine in a 120 gallon this is not always true but in my case it will be and a 75 gallon can house a pair of adult red eared sliders so a 120 gallon can easily house the two so I have enough space don't worry. Trust me I know alot about turtles way more than fish and I know a friend who happens to be a reptile breeder for over 30 years and he says I can even keep the trio in a 75 and even though you will argue I gurantee he is right

1 male res needs a 70-75 gallon 4ft tank by itself. My sisters(Should be mine beacause I take care of it) res is in a 75 gallon aquarium. 70-75 gallons is on the small side for 1 male res.

Dude, Oscaroo and the rest of us are giving you good advice. Listen. Do right by your animals. A 120 wont handle the bioload of 3 Turtles. And I'd like to hear from this reptile breeder friend of yours, as you seem to make some outlandish claims.

ive seen columbian sharks in pure salt water

^Yep, probably best to see these guys as the same as North American Sea Catfish. They can be found in estuarine habitats, especially when young, but they are a saltwater fish.
