Depends on how red or how blue you want them.... bright red, or naturally red? Neon Blue or light blue?? How colorful you want your fish will depend on what to give them...

Please do explain!! I want the most intense colors I can get with out dying them....does that make sense?

I give my fish colour bits you can get them at big al's they really help bring out colour in my fish and they are good because they are "slow sinking" tho I find that they fall fairly quick but fish love them and never seen them spit them out once they have them.

If you want more intense coloration, then you'll have to feed them a home made food mix...so you can mix in certain color enhancing ingredients. Pure natural astaxanthin (naturose) is good for reds. Feeding heavily cyclop-eeze will help with reds as well. For blues, feed heavily with spirulina based foods. If you really want to see the fish glow, then you'll have to go with certain items like chlorophyll pink (for reds) and methyl testosterone (for blue)....but then again, those items can hurt the fish if overdone and are used purely for looks with no regards to overall health and longevity. Again...it all depends on how intensely colored you want your fish...

Good info! I also hear that lighting will help a bunch too, I may not feed certain things if they are purely cosmetic as I am not a breeder or competitive but still very interesting and good to know!
