So. Cal.
I have three Peacock bass and they used to have awesome color, but I just moved them to a 110g and now they are getting really dark and there bars are not as defined and are kind of splotchy. What are ideal conditions for these fish, ph, alk, etc. ?????? And beyond the basics are there any other little secrets to getting BRIGHTER BETTER COLOR????? Lights, what I feed them, different color backing on my tank, chemicals, etc. ???? Someone even told me to put a stick in the water???? HELP???? haha, thanks

Well, what color is your gravel?

They could just be stressed. Remember to give them a wide variety of foods. How many pbass do you have in the 110g?

My gravel is mostly white and really light tan with black mixed in. i have three Peacocks that are about 8" and my tank is a 110g TALL

Peacock Bass vary a lot in coloring according to their mood. When moved to a new environment it's very common for thcolors to fade out for a time. The really BRIGHT colors usually come out in the dominate males...My wife calls it "war paint"...(she's the Pbass expert in the familly. I set up tanks and filtration and take care of my big catfish and silver aro.)

im not sure about pbass ,but my snakeheads are always at there best in a realy well planted tank

We keep all of ours at 7.6 and they seem to do great.

Crushed coral in the bottom of the tank...or a bag of it in one of your filter chambers. We always use crushed coral because we get our aquarium water from an RO/DI system and it comes out totally nutral. The crushed coral raises the ph and buffers the water.
