What kind of fishing would you like to do and where? I pretty much only fly fish for trout now, but I'm up for anything. I know a few good spots, well I like them at least.

I wouldn't really matter, I haven't fished in years. Kinda gave up on it when I was spending more time running around keeping the wife and kids going, not really very relaxing.

Kind be cool to go catch something that could be kept in a tank.

You guys. The Rocky Mountain Cichlid Assoc is having its auction on the 28th of this month. Maybe we could meet up there. Just an idea. I think the only challenge to that would be to ID one another, that is unless we met somewhere else before hand.

that sounds pretty good, actually if I can make it. What is the cover charge? We all need MFK shirts :D

No cover charge, can be worth while going I've gotten some real good buys. It is mostly african cichlids though. I've got a flyer that I'll post.

So I'll be there, who else is going?

Auction info, from the following RMCA site; www.rmcichlid.org

The 2009 Spring auction will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on March 28th. The church is located at Wadsworth and 21st in Lakewood. This is 6 blocks north of Colfax. The doors will open at 9:00 am and the auction will start at 11:00 am. There are three ways to participate in the auction.

First, you can be a seller by bringing fish to be auctioned and/or a buyer of fish that are brought by someone else. This is the traditional way we have used for years and is what the majority if us do. The first dollar of an auctioned item goes to the RMCA and the remainder is split 80% to the seller and 20% to the RMCA.

Second, you can bring used equipment and just about anything else of an aquatic nature for the quick sale table except live fish. You set the asking price which the bidder must meet. In order to clear the quick sale table, prices are reduced 10% every hour starting at 2:00 pm to 50% of the original price. If you don't like the price reduction, the item can be removed from the quick sale table by notifying the checkout desk. The quick sale table will be open throughout the auction. Any items left on the quick sale table after the auction will be considered donations to the RMCA. The first dollar of a sold quick sale item goes to the RMCA and the remainder is split 80% to the seller and 20% to the RMCA.

Third, you can bring high value items for the 'Buy it Now' table. This allows the seller to put a price on high value items that he/she will accept. It costs $2.00 dollars to place an item on the Buy it Now table which is not refundable if the item does not sell. The Buy it Now table will close after the fifth table is auctioned. The person bringing the item then has the option of adding it to the regular auction (it will get move up basis when the auction resumes) or taking it home. There is no guarantee on what price the seller will receive if it goes to auction. The Buy it Now sales proceeds are split 80% to the seller and 20% to the RMCA. The Buy it Now table is not limited to cichlids. For example, rainbow fish are acceptable, however if they do not sell when the Buy it now Table closes they can not be placed in the auction.

I should be able to go at least in the morning to see what they got available at the auction.

The down side is that I don't have an MFK shirt. But what if we just made something that said MFK and wrote it on a hat or shirt? (I know that seems kind of cheesy, but I'm open to ideas).

Well I already have my shirt. I dont know if I can go, but I'll try. As far as the fishing thing goes, I have kept green sunfish that I have caught out of a local pond. We had one we kept for a couple years. The property the pond was on has since sold and I dont know the new owner so I haven't fished there in a couple years. I would think some one on here would know a good place to catch fish that could be kept in an aquarium. I just want to go catch fish, I dont really care what kind, and I dont really want to keep any, I just want to catch something.

I wanted to go to the settling ponds at Chatfield and catch an SMB and LMB for my tank, but they're drying up since the hatchery isn't getting any water.

Well fish do have a hard time living with out water. All the places I really like to fish probably wont be thawed, but they might be. I would really like to go fish in some beaver ponds by Taylor Park, but I dont know if the rest of you would even be distantly interested. Its a lot of wading through marsh and catching little trout, but its the best kind of fishing there is, IMO.
