Coloring up my Synspilum?

Where did you get your Synspilum from? Quality makes a huge difference. And, you also want to make sure you have a pure strain. I recommend getting them from a reputable dealer/breeder.
I'm in MN also, and I know they don't have any nice ones locally. Most of them are Hybrids or very low quality and don't color up right. When you get a good strain, they will color up almost regardless of what you feed them. Although, a wide variety of vegetables will help when they are younger.

Does anyone have an opinion on this video of the fish's actual sibling. At the 30 secondish mark, you can see the fish has some interesting green markings on its face/gillplate region, which a pure synspilum shouldn't have, right?

Got it at Forest Lake Pets, they usually have the purest fish around here. But as I said, I'm not sure that the fish is pure. That really doesn't bother me, I'm sure it'll be a nice looking fish when it gets a bit bigger.
