Colourful Siamese tiger to share

That's interesting to hear. I wasn't trying to be disparaging. The US has nothing but corrupt lawyers in power. They write laws to benefit there own kind. Although we are a democracy, the politicians do whats best for themselves or their parties. They promise entitlements to buy votes. All while building up debt and borrowing money from China and other countries. The dollar will be worthless in a few years. The poor here often sell drugs, commit violent crimes, or choose not to work when there are plenty of opportunities to do so. The US is a great country and has a lot of resources, but a lot problems as well.

You are correct except for one thing we don't live in a democracy we live in a republic. Some would argue that we now live in an oligarchy. I have an attached link if you want to find out more about the differences between democracy, republic, anarchy and dictatorship. Sorry to derail I just feel every one should see this at least once even if you don't agree with it.

Honestly I dont think we're neither. This whole world is being controlled by the Elite, the people who slowly depopulates Earth with cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, etc.. They say Marijuana is an illegal drug so that people think its more dangerous and harmful to our body, yet from the US Bureau statistics of death mortality proves taht 400,000 dies from smoking cigarettes, 80,000 dies from alcohol, tylenol prescribed meds 2,000, and u got marijuana as 0 annually. As you can see there is corruption right there. They issue MMIC to those who desperately need it. Why is it ok for a patient to consume an ILLEGAL drug but not a normal being? Look at Cali they give out MMIC like candy. its all about taxing us. if they truly cared for each American to live a long life they would illegalize cigarettes/alcohol and legalize marijuana

You're right. I just didn't think most would know the difference. I was for Mr. Paul, myself. Our wonderful press made a joke of him.

My point was that I didn't want to seem judgemental against other countries. I work in the science field and some of the best and brightest come from overseas to work here. That's part of what makes the US such a great country. The melting pot makes us strong imo.

Now, what can we do to save the tigers?

I'm pretty sure people are trying to breed them here, not for re-population though, purely for financial gains.;)

Fish keepers are pretty good and getting things to work here and not on the scientific level either. In Asia in general they're resourceful, all you need to do is look at the arowana market, and think about how much hassle it must have been getting them to breed. Now they come in all the colours of the rainbow. Once the ST reaches a point of no return, gets put on lots of lists and becomes illegal in the states the corporate boys will step in IMHO.

Wow, I heard Siamese Tiger fish were becoming scarce here in California a couple of times yet becoming extinct I was not aware of that. One thing could be done that has worked a couple of times here in the states is a 100% catch and release policy on all wild Tiger Fish. That has been done with Stripped Bass and Red Drum that had extremely low level and made almost a complete recovery. The same situation is happening now in California with its Salmon fishery. Salmon have been put on a 100% catch and release policy here in California for the last two years to let the fishery naturally recover. Sounds like (although it may be difficult to enforce) a catch and release policy should be put into effect to let the fishery recover or else the fish may become extremely scarce (hate to say extinct).

I still see Tiger fish every time I go to the bay area aquarium stores.

If the situation is that critical the Thai government should consider a marine/ aquatic preserve (100% no fishing area). The same thing as for land tigers just under water. This allows the fish an area to spawn and build up their numbers then colonizes and populate areas around the preserve. These preserves then create an undisturbed breeding area that effects all waterways in the immediate area.

^ they only have one policy here, catch and eat. The only places catch and release is possible to police is fishing parks.
The problem is Thailand is such a big rural country, it's impossible to police it properly. I'm quite sure there are policies already as there are against logging of teak but people ignore them.
Rules get made in natural resource and fishery departments, officials and the general public in Bangkok think it's great but outside of Bangkok you may as well forget it.
Right now in Keang krachan National park, which is the biggest in Thailand there are probably about 20 or so rangers , it's over 2500 km squared. They have to police small villages which slash and burn, police the borders for illegal logging and fight with poachers who do kill land tigers and anything else that may come their way.
Not only is it difficult to police any policy but the people doing the policing are paid so poorly they're open to corruption at every level. You've also got lots of different departments vying for budgets. About 5 years ago the highway department built a super high way in between 2 national parks. They claimed it was legal and was outside the boundaries of both national parks, it's a pity all the dear and other wild animals that have now become road kill were unable to read the signs.

Nowadays we like to say "developing country" but i think its become politically incorrect to say "3rd world", in countries like this one you have a hub that is super modern, all the laws are made here and on the face of it it looks and sounds good. But outside the hub laws and policies count for nothing.

It would be good to hear that the Thai government hired a fisheries biologist to at least start some kind of fisheries management.

Datnoids are great!
