i've had my oscar for a couple of months now, he is a juvenile - right now i'm having problems taking a pic, so will post one later. basically, he is completely black in colour except for the orange ring on his tail, but now i'm looking at everyone else's oscar, they seem to have so much colour! i can see a few orange spots emerging on his body, but nothing near to the normal colouring im seeing on a tiger oscar.

why doesn't he have a lot of colour? is it the food i'm giving him? i'm feeding him mussels, hikari gold pellets and prawns once a day...been doing this ever since i got him...

yeah just wait. i bought an all black tiger oscar at 2". its about 10-12" no and there is more red than black

hi there hope your well, iam back from colombia,,hope you had a good holiday?
ok you know my two oscars, when i first got them they didnt look anything like they do now, they hit about 6-7inches then suddenly the colour came from nowhere, so how yours is now does not determine how he will look in a months time, let alone 1year, so enjoy the changes ahead, even with the attitude

nellllly! you're back! my holiday was great, italy was realllly hot! mauritius was even worse! anyway, he is fine, i can see some spots of orange appearing on his body, so hopefully there will be some red like you guys are saying and also there is red appearing on his gills too. but now i'm looking at his eyes and noticing very thin rings of white around the edges - is this normal for oscars? or is this the start of an infection?
