i think im going to just go ahead and get the argentine. ive convinced my mom and my dad prolly wont even notice the 8x4 enclosure for a few months(sad i know, but he has some problems with being smart.) plus i have some big fishtanks still laying around i can use for a while, but i'll deff build the enclosure this summer just to make sure it gets done.

　
If you want your parents to be comfortable with your lizard, I think you should be open with them about the enclosure up front. But you know your family, not me, so I’ll leave that side of things to you
　
I believe that “Tegu puberty” is directly related to enclosure size and other parameters. Mine was spoiled with a large outdoor enclosure during this phase and he has blossomed. Most of the other cases of high aggression in this phase are when people delayed upgrading their enclosure. So like you said, get that large enclosure done sooner rather than later and I believe you will be in good shape.
　
　

now on to the "off days" with females subject. as far as im concerned ALL animals have off days. but my mom is very over dramatic with these types of things. she cant catergorize "off days." to her the animal is mean, or nice. i think i should be able to just handle her in my room then bring up stairs every once in a while to get used to other people. my mom really loves my Blue tongue skink. but, im also worried about when my moms taking care of her. i really dont think she would ever try and handle her, but if she does while the gu is having an off day, and im in college, there is potential for disaster. as far as i know, these animals have pretty strong bites. id hate for anything to happen to either one of them. ive seen a youtube vid of "tegu puberty" or something along those lines that demenstrate that behaviour with a female, but ive heard that its only when their young? she would prolly be right around 2.5 years of age when i go to college, so not quite an adult but not a baby. I will have plenty of time to spend with her daily though.

　
I’ve only raised a male so I won’t comment here… Other than to say having that large enclosure during this phase will give you a greater potential to her being peaceful.
　
　

most of my animals "enjoy" (prolly closer to tolerate) the hum of my bass guitar when i practice. theres a real soft vibration to it. with the exception of my ackie. he associates the bass with "someone is out there!!! ima go beg for food!!!" so there should be plenty of time she could be out then. im not going to try that until ive had her a few months though.

　
My Tegu’s enclosure has a 125 gal aquarium on top of it that makes a few constant hums (filters, trickling water, air pump) and I don’t think he is at all affected. So I wouldn’t consider them ‘sensitive’ to vibration. As long as the guitar playing isn’t constant or extreme (volume/vibration) I doubt it would be a concern.
　
　

but thanks again for your guys' helpful responses. do you know which part of the year bobby hill's clutches start to hatch? and ive heard that bobby's tegus because of what part of the country hes in, start to hibernate at around the same time as most the other tegus he produces. when do yours start to hibernate, and around how long? is there a noticable difference between male and female hibernation periods?

　
B&W’s hatch mid June ~ mid July and he sells them at 6 wks old. I believe I received mine from him in early August. Reds tend to breed/hatch a little bit later and Blues commonly later than Reds.
　
Mine’s first year he hibernated solidly from November to April. At Bobby’s house (in S. Fl.) they go down much earlier than that. This is an area where individuals vary widely. I believe that we can influence what they do with conditions but in the end, a Tegu is going to do what that Tegu is going to do.
