sorry to hear that.. yes they start off in fresh water but need to go brackish when they mature. of course alot of LFS's never mention this.

Since I took over the fish department and have been telling people about the requirements, we just don't sell that many anymore. Or pacu, pangasius, or tinfoils. I just don't understand.

i quess once people know their long term requirements they realize what they are getting themselves into...and thats good.

wow!! can't wait till mine gets that big!! i'm curious about the whole salt thing... i've always used aquarium salt in my SA/CA tanks and my columbian in is a 55gal with a featherfin, eclipse, dempsey, and a needle fish!! and yes they all get along fine. when they begin to get large do you put more salt than the tablespoon per 5 gal or is that good enough?

go to the brackish section in MFK and ask away..the more you learn now the better your eventual brackish/marine tank will be.. you need good quality expertise gradually turning your tank to a full brackish tank..i have been reading alot as well.. post away and get answers.. it is not difficult at all ..but theres different things to learn.
