sounds kinda like a problem i've been having with my perch.
the four of them are lethargic, occasionally have white poo, they used to glance of objects (but for some reason stopped?) and one sometimes has the reddening under the eye socket it (but that only lasts for a bit then goes). they have been like that for months but i've never seen any fin rot or cloudy spots. your symptoms kinda like this??

i also have numbers of hydra in the tank (look like swaying fans) so im kinda curious if we are experiencing the same things

The cloudiness of the water is kinda concerning to me, as it looks like a bacterial bloom caused by an ammonia spike. Is it possible that somebody fed your fish while you were gone? They might have overfed. Also, in your other thread, it did look like hydra, but in this thread it looks more fungal in nature. I really need your tank paremeters. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and your stocking and size, of all fish.
If there is an ammonia spike, that could be causing a number of the problems that you are talking about. Not the poo, per se, but the scratching, and the irritated eyes. Can you get a look at their gills and see if they are irritated looking?
I, personally, have never dealt with columnaris. However, salt is not going to treat it, salt is really only good for ich. it is a gram negative backteria, and as such will respond to antibiotics. If your fish are showing lesions, I would try maracyn. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic. However, I see no lesions, so am wondering if columnaris is the actual problem. I'll dive into my library here, and see what I come up with, but I do need the tank parems.

I'm not seeing redness on the fish in the pics, and I also see that they have their fins erect, which sick fish usually don't do. Any possibility of a pic of the affected areas?

Im dealing with somthing similar with my largemouth. It had been happy as a clam for about a month, then one day I see clamped fins, next morning I see white stringy stuff on some of the fins and parts of the body, and finally I see the fins deteriorating. This all happened within the span of 3 days. I have raised bass before and nothing like this ever happened. I tried extra strength cichlid melafix and salt, but that did absolutely nothing. Luckily it is still eating but just not attacking my offerings with ferocity but taking it rather gingerly and shyly. I just want my bass back to normal.
I started treating with Maracyn 2 today. Here's my thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=405891

ok got the params zimmerman but they dont make sense. ammonia .75
nitarate 10
nitrite 1.0
hardness 200
alk 280
ph 8.0

gone 7 days when i come back ammonia is 0 aswell as nitrite. after vacuum gravel and 60 % h20 change amonia and nitrites are up? ive even reduced feeding to about 10 pellets a day.
