Colwater fish for pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Link me to that 60 watt heater Im very interested. From what I understoood it doesnt matter what wattage it is because of the rules of energy transference. Example: A smaller heater will cost as much as a higher wattage heater because it'll just be running more often to heat the same amount of water.
Was wondering this too, maybe the other one heats more than needed? Curious to hear

No way. The 1600 watt heater kept the entire pond liquid. Algae and plants gre all winter.......The heater only needs to provide a air exchange. the 60 watt heater does that just fine. The other heater would work fine in a much much bigger pond I am sure.

How bout a bunch o' axolotl
Pretty sure axolotl's are very fragile and come from an area of more tropical water like mexico. But no haha I doubt all the money in the world could actually get you a greenland shark

Axolotls like temps roughly around 54-68°F so they do like cold water just not as cold as it would get in Canada. If I remember correctly they originate from a mountain lake in Mexico so it tends to be cooler there then the rest of Mexico but it still doesn't get anywhere near cold enough to freeze over. Also neat fact about axolotls is that if they lose a limb they can regrow it unlike many other amphibians. They are also unable to fully turn into a salamander unless they eat some of their own mucus so they can stay fully aquatic their entire lives potentially. Just don't confuse them for "water dogs" otherwise known as the tiger salamander, water dogs will become salamanders regardless.

Yeah but the only bad thing about the tiger salamanders is that they will eventually becomes salamanders and won't be able to stay in the water like an axolotl can. Used to be able to go to Cabela's and buy water dogs as fishing bait for like $6-7 a piece. They don't sell em anymore tho, ppl raised hell over them being used as bait so they just stopped buying/selling em.
