Hi guys,

After keeping fancy goldfish for 4 years I sold all my tanks and stepped away from the hobby. Now I've got the itch:naughty: I'm in the process of getting a tank minimium 75 gallons max 180 gallons. I want to do planted and a variety of schooling fish. Can you guys recommend what kind of fish I should get?

Rainbowfish, cardinal tetras, rummynose tetras, pencilfish... they all look great in planted tanks.

celestial pearl danios , congo tetras is good for bigger set-up

Thanks guys for the suggestions! I'm really excited about getting back into it!

The one concern I have is no matter what I had in the tank I ALWAYS had a problem with brown algae. So does anyone have pointers on getting rid of it? I wasn't going to start out with co2 was going to do excel first and then switch to co2. My wattage is going to be around 3wpg.

As far as algea just watch the photo period of your lighting, and invest in a good algea cleaning crew!!

Otto cats are great.. they stay small 1 to 3 inches also nertite snails I hear do a good job

If you get the 180, go with rainbowfish. Can't beat the colours of them in large schools.
What type of lighting are you planning to use? WPG isn't a valid term anymore since it doesn't apply to most of the lights used today.
Bristlenose plecos and the affore mentioned ottos are great for cleaning up the soft algaes. Siamese Algae eaters are the best for black brush.
