Coming back

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just for the ease of things, why not a school of Angels? They do great in large groups and in planted tanks.

I'm leaning towards t5's. I've used cfl kits for AH Supply which I REALLY like but they get pretty hot.I'm probably going to buy this tank from a member here. It's 122 gallons and its shaped like and L. So each side is 49 inches long and 14 inches wide. I would like a little more width but this is a very good deal and the tank would look nice in my living room.

So if I stay around 2 wpg I won't have to use co2 right away? I am planning on going that route just hoping to put it off for a little while because of the initial expense.

It depends on the fixture and the plants. 2 wpg with a T8 fixture you should be fine. 2 wpg with a T5 HO is more like 4 wpg at that point it depends on the plants (fast growing or slow growing). I have a 108 watt T5 HO fixture with mainly java ferns, anubias, crypts, swords and water sprite (lowish light slow growing) so I am hoping I can get by with ferts and flourish excel. Time will tell though if I need CO2 and if I do I will do it.

If you have 2 wpg of T5 HO, it will be high light, and you'd probably need CO2 to avoid algae. If you link to the tank and the lights you're thinking about, or at least provide model numbers, it would be a lot easier for people to give you advice. 122 gal and T5 is not enough info.

When I get it home I'll show you. I was looking at the 2 bulb t5's, they aren't HO according to big Als.

So are these good? Are they going to be on the medium side? I plan on doing CO2 was just going to put it off. I only wanted to buy lights once. Maybe I won't set it up til I have a co2 system then
