Can somebody give me a list or direct me to a good website for the prevention of common FRT diseases? The only ones I know of right now are fungus growth on young turtles and shell curl. Thanks!:)

Do you know how I should clean the shell safely? It looks like there is a slight algae growth on the top portion of the shell.

fungus on the nose.... i lost one to that

From the limited experience i've had with them i'd say prevention...clean water and no sharp objectys or aggressive tankmates. I'm much experienced with mud/musk. snappers and the more common turtles though.

The ones i always kept (basically cared for until sold) were kept singly and spoiled rotten :D.

PS damn fun species though no getting around that

FRTs are brackish water turtles. Keep them in clean brackish water with Sulpha/calcium blocks and you shouldn't have any problems. My FRTs are between 3 and 6 years old and I've never had a spot of fungus on them by keeping them in the proper conditions.

Don't try to clean their leathery shells. If a FRT gets a growth it's body doesn't like, it'll slough off the current top layer (frequently seen right after shipping).
