Common Pleco in Pond?

I may be getting a large common soon(his owner cant care for him anymore) , and I wanted to know if he could stay in my 700g pond for the summer??
after summer I could take him to a BIG indoor pond, heated/filtered.

I would feed him, so he wouldnt have to live off the algae, and its filtered.

Kept mine in an outdoor pond year round and he did fine. We do stay a little warmer in the winter but your plan should be fine. They become real monsters in a pond.

umm... as long as it's cared for properly it'll be fine indoor and outdoor. If it's at the right temps, great. A lot of people have them in ponds.

well, right now my pond is in the 70's.. a little low, but better than being in a cramped 55g.

mid 70s would be fine. I have heard of them being kept ok in slightly lower temps too, but i wouldnt want to do it personally.

My did fine all year here in central Florida! And he keeps growing.

you have them in your waterways, so im sure they are good all year round lol.

I dont think he's live here, unless I got a heater(dont see that hapening)...
it gets to about 15* around here..too cold for a plec.

I had some out in the pond during winter, and I lost 2. but it did get pretty cold, so i brought the rest in. and they sure do seem to grow fast and big out there!

Just bought 2 common and threw them in my outdoor pond and they're doing good so far.
