Common Pleco in Pond?

I don't think plecs will do well in water where temps get below 72, but if you take it in during the fall and put it in during the summer, you might be OK.

Just make sure the bottom of the pond is kept nice and clean, common plecos might be tough as old boots, but they are still sensitive to water quality conditions especially as they are bottom dwelling fish where stuff like ammonia is more concentrated at the bottom.

No, its far too cold over here unless you heat the pond to at least sub-tropical temps all year round (which is posible and easy to do, but expensive to run). Its much easier to keep common plecos outdoors in places like florida where its generally a lot easier to keep common plecos outdoors as the temp is much warmer in general all year round etc.

lol that's what i would have thought. You just said it in a way i thought you kept yours outside. Hey if they are in the florida waterways, i'm sure in a lot of places they'll survive just fine in a pond.
