I can't return the Pleco as the shops near me don't want it and I bought the tank private from the local paper. Any idea's what to do with the Pleco now? To be honest this is far from how I wanted my tank but unfortunatly this is the way it has turned. My girlfriend was told by the shop she went to that there was no problem putting Angel fish in with what we had and Rainbows would be ok as well. Personally I want a tank with lots of smaller fish in rather than a tank with a few bigger fish.
well, you gotta do something, some plecos even turn into terrorists when they grow up. my dad has a pleco that's almost a meter long, and kills anything he tries to keep with it.

it's not that angels can't lie with rainbows, it's just that you have a few too many.

There is only 1 species that grows that big, and that is the titanic, LDA065. If he has one of those, it is an uncommon occurance. Oddball use to have one, but not quite that big I don't think.

I have just bought a tank second hand with fish, it came with 1 clown loach, 1 gourami and a common pleco. The girlfriend has since added 5 rainbow fish and 4 angel fish. Since these fish have been added the pleco has lost it's colour in patches. What could be causing this? I have read that it could be stress from the move or from adding new fish but im unsure and if this is the case how long could it take for him to recover?

If it is a common the likely cause is too small a tank, or poor water conditions. Those are the two most common things that will cause the color to fade on commons for long periods of time.

well, to tell the truth , i've never seen the fish. my parents have been separated for 4 years, and he got it three years ago @ 1 foot long. he inherited it from someone who was moving, and had to clear out his 150G tank. it's about 2 1/2 feet now, I don't know my metric conversions well. he says it doesn't look like a normal common, it could indeed be that giant pleco. can you get me a pic of it to send to him?

this was oddballs monster (first pic) and another of the net (second pic). 2 and a half foot is 75 cm, 3 quarters of a meter.

your pleco will get to big im afraid. i think you should try and get rid of the bigger fish and do a smaller community fish tank with what youve got you could try http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/ and leave an add on there, there are always people wanting plecos of all sorts

Thanks all, I have now found a home for the Pleco on display in a fish shop along with my clown loach.
