common senegal growth rate?

where you get him? my petsmart senegal has been growing at a very fast rate. thickened up a lot and is always eating. probably grew about an .75-1in a month. hes bigger than my delhezi which was the biggest poly i had and also outgrew my albino senegal very quickly. all are about 5-7 inches now i believe and i think it really depends on eating habits/ genetics

Usually Cb sens will start to slow down tremendously in their growth rate once they hit about 6-7" and from there they will grow a max of 3-4" if that. And that growth will take a lot longer

Im sorry Im pretty new to this fish world, but he is may tank favorite. What is a lower jaw species? And is mine a lower jaw species

A lower jaw polypterus is a polypterus where the bottom jaw protrudes past the upper part. And upper jaws are where the upper jaw protrudes or equals the length of the lower jaw. Your senegalus is an upper jaw. All lower jaws usually grow past the 18-24" with the exception of the Cb endlies/Sb endlies (SB never get past). Cb sometimes. Aswell as some exceeding 24" plus (Most usually stop around the 24-26" mark). Upper jaws tend to stay smaller with the exception of polypterus teugelsi, weeksii and ornatapinnis. Lower jaws for the most part get about 5-6" larger than most upper jaws. With the upper jaws staying in the 10-18" range with the exception of the senegalus (which usually stays under 10"s and the upper jaws listed above that exceed those sizes)

wild caught lower jaw species. congicus I believe. They can sometimes grow an inch a month until a certain size.

My teugelsi is growing at that rate maybe abit more too

Feed the senegals frozen krill....they love it. I bought a senegal and an ornate together roughly around 3" and fed them feeders. The ornate tripled his size while the senegal stayed small, switched to krill and the senegal isgetting bigger very quickly....

cool good to know I actually have a ***** ton of blood worms and I really mean a ***** ton lol he is a blood worm fend, well him and my black ghost knife, my 2 silver tipped sharks and my peacock eel all destroy it I have to put 2 in at the same time so everyone can eat!!! Ill pick up some frozen krill tomorrow and try that but my Senny is getting CHUNKY in a healthy way I can tell he is growing
