What are those even hybrids of? All but the second one look like a single species.. And the last one is very obviously photoshopped by the way.

Also, the "sheep pig" is not a hybrid.. It is just a rare species of pig..

While I agree that the four photos are about as worthless as evidence can get, I would like to see a link to a credible source saying that the hybrid we're talking about is indeed impossible. It may well be, but the improbability of it and impossibility of it are two different things, and most of us are talking about improbability. If you have research done by a credible source, I think we'd all like to see it to settle this once and for all.

Chances of the two being able to breed is slim to none, the two different genus diverged from each other almost 10 million years ago making them totally different species and DNA testing has shown that its impossible
Turtles that have drifted apart way more then 10 million years ago are still able to interbred...they even come fertile. For example Chelonia and Caretta interbreed and they have drifted apart some 50 million years. Other example is a specimen held at a zoo (if Im not mistaken in Germany), that is a cross between a Emydura and a Chelodina. One more thing, aligator snappers and comon snappers have drifted apart way more then 10 million years ago. Fossils of ancient snappers 30 million years ago show already clear differences betwen Chelydra and Macroclemmys body types. I hold my own that the main thing preventing this cross are behavioral differences, not molecular ones.

Different then proving if is possible, what I find it hard to figure is why trying it in the first place. With so many different species of turtles endangered in the wild and needing some serious breeding done in captivity, why waste your time and resorces trying to create some one of a kind specimens useless for concervation. Their market value wouldnt be that big of a deal either.

a snapper hybrid would be interesting but how come no one is working on this!?3377538126_9293e26ca0_o.jpg

Hahaha. Is prof chaos the model for the shell?

Just about any Turtle in captivity is useless for conservation.........Assurance colonies do not equal conservation........

As far as the original subject - It's not impossible - Just because we haven't seen them pop up yet doesn't mean it hasn't happened.......Alot of things are done behind closed doors or un-intentionally without being introduced to the general public.........
