you could try it but it's risky they can be kept with Large tankmates like big cichlids and lunkers like peca i've seen them with clown knifes to but with the common wolf because it gets 18'' it needs to be kept with large fish it's just the size of your tankmates that make it a risky
thanks cook, your the first person to give me some hope that all MAY be ok.did you add the wolfs first or last to the tank.my bichirs and odoe were first in the tank followed by the wolf.
I don't think the order in which you add them should matter in this case. I have had them at different times in bare tanks as well as with decor. The wolves may scuffle amongst themselves, and the polypterus will scuffle with themselves, but not with other fish, IME.
I would watch the Odoe since the size difference is big, but power feed the wolf and he'll catch up quick, should be easy to get it on prepared foods with the polypterus in the tank. Hope that helps, great choices in fish btw.
i have 3 9-14" wolf fish that do nothing but eat night crawlers and party with the rest of the fish in there i dont think you will have any problems for a long time
thanks everyone .i have a large piece of drift wood in the tank.the wolf hides underneath.everything is fine.he doesnt attack any of the other fish in the tank.i moved the piece of wood to clean the tank and put the wood in the corner of the tank.the wolf moved by the wood and continued to attack any of the bichirs if they got near to the wood/wolf fish.cleaned the tank, moved the wood back, everything ok
do you think the wolf was just scared,or,was he starting to showing his true colours to be???
