I kept two Oscars, a jack Dempsey, jag and green terror, and a Midas/devil together in a 220. They got along okay with an occasional squabble.

These two also tried to spawn a few times but of course the fry were not viable.
 
Wow those two are stunning. I really like green terrors. My LFS has a 8 inch festae, will a festae and a red devil work in a 125?

Unlikely both have the tendency to claim a 125 for themselves especially the red devil

I would go with salvinis as tank mates. I like when fish are pair so I would probably do a breeding pair as well. I keep 2 pairs of marbled cons and a pair of HRP's in my 135. They squabble and all but no major casualties. But they are smaller compared to JD's. Try the sals and see how it works out. I would also build territories on either side of the tank only to prevent them meeting as much as possible.
