community fish

ya i thought of getting some rams

Rummynose are nice, a lot of the tetras color up nicely and work well in community setups.
I like the gertrudae rainbows also, but I never used rainbows in community setups.
In that size tank however, an amazon biotope with discus, or angels would be nicer than a communal setup.

Not all tetras are easily eaten by angels. To name a few that can actually do well with the domestic scalare angels are kerri tetras, rummy nose tetras (all three species), emperor tetras, diamond tetras, black skirt tetras, glowlight tetras, cardinal tetras, beacon tetras, glass/red-eye tetras and lemon tetras.

How big is the tank? Blue rams are nice but more sensitive than Bolivian rams although blue rams are still more appealing to look at than Bolivians (Microgeophagus altispinosa). Females should have pink bellies. That's easy enough to distinguish. I'd buy a pair from a local buyer since they'll be more accustomed to your local tap water.

Corydoras of any kind will fit well in a community setup as will otocinclus and a variety of small plecos such as L010a, bristlenose, clown and farlowellas.

Not all rainbowfish are like that. A few that can reach 2-3 inches max would be gertrudaes, furcatas, threadfins (Iriatherina werneri) and praecox. Celebes grow no more than 3-4 inches.

IMO for a large tank you can't really beat a large school of harlequin rasboras. They school really tightly and are much more active than tetras in large tanks. Swimming back and forth the length of the tank in unison. Awesome.

as noted, it was "IME" -- in my experience -- as I observed over a period of a few days as my angels ate my cardinal and neon tetras, one by one ...

but it was only a 55G tank, so maybe they would fare better in a larger setup ...

also, I agree with the above, exodons are not really a community fish ... unless it's a community of exodons ...

I love rasaboras, I would get a big school of them and some corys. You could also do some platys.

what about dwarf cichlids I've seen some people do small cichlids and good suggestions
