I have had one with a rtc,tsn and some large cichlids for about 8 months now. only thing he ever tried to chomp was a really small GT. that was months ago and been chill ever since.

I'm over exxagerating when I said rotting. Sorry about that. It was strange. I did water changes, added some stress coat. I wish it didn't happen. I was told his noodles would grow back. It changed him too. He just stopped eating. I sound like a bad person but I really didn't want it to happen. I posted threads about it and followed what I was told.

I'm sorry, but I don't recall your posts about this. Either way, it was still severe neglect. Wasting away, or "disappearance" of "noodles, whatever that is" or a lack of appetite, and death, are all signs of severe neglect, still.
Lungfish are EXTREMELY hardy, and to have killed one ... well... I think you get the picture. But what's done is done. Sorry about the fish.

keep in mind that although a lot of fish issues can be prevented, sometimes a fish will develop problems that are irreparable. certain bacterial infections and other issues frequently cannot be cured. if i remember correctly you did all you could for the fish. lungfishes are normally quite hardy and quite durable, but they can develop problems and every so often they are uncurable.
with any fish, its important to do all you can prevent disease, and then if it still develops, treat it as best you can. sometimes there's nothing you can do; i don't believe yours was a case of severe neglect by any means. sorry about the fish, and hopefully you'll be able to keep another one someday if you choose to do so--

i've got mine on his own at the mo as i put him in with my oscars and they attacked him quite bad,he recovered quite quickly though that included his "noodles" growing back in a couple of weeks! i think they beat him up 'cause he looks like a big worm! he's about 9" and as docile as a lamb and thick too 'cause he didn't even try to swim off when bitten! still,he's quite a character with that smiley face!!!
