JK47 JK47 Yoimbrian Yoimbrian got really excited about the power head idea but I have hit a bit of a dead end. My acrylic is going to be 3/4in thick, and there is a chance that there will be an additional 1/8in thick black acrylic which means I need a powerhead that can go on acrylic that is 7/8in thick. None of the Tunze fall into that and it looks like most powerheads are only rated for 1/2in thickness.

Buy Koralia powerheads and buy a stronger manget for the exterior. You can literally take the powerhead with you to Home Depot, grab anything 7/8th thick and try any of the magnets there to see if it holds.DO NOT let the strong magnet touch the powerhead magnet directly. You have to keep something between them or odds are good you will not be able to pry them apart. That is all the advice I can give. I haven't worked with small pumps in so long I had to do a little research too

I am glad you gave me that warning. I can picture myself at HD swearing and trying to pull two magnets apart.

Just a thought; If magnets you find at big box stores don't cut it, you could try a 1 neodymium magnet. If they cannot hold, then I don't know what would. You can buy online in almost any size.

When I added a panel I(made of painted MDO board) to the inside of my metal stand to mount equipment to, I inlayed one 1"x1" magnet to each corner of the panel. I did this because I wanted a way to secure the panel to the stand with even equipment mounted, but not drill any holes. It kept it a "clean install", and, that panel isn't moving unless I want it to.
