This is also what I found out through researching info about these fish..I guess, I needed to hear from someone else too...

My case is another successful example of keeping bala and rainbow sharks with jardini, which is more aggressive than silvers. When my rainbow died a couple of months ago due to aging (he was 4-5 years old), he was only 4" long and not too bulky as the balas, but he was doing fine with my jardini reaching 12" long.

And you probably already knew that plecos could go in arowanas tanks too...

My 90-gal is set-up long ago and is nicely stocked with a variety of fish and is also decorated with rock formations.

I don't want to mess with all of that to give the 8 inch Silver Aro only temporary accommodation. The 30 gal is going to be big enough for a few weeks (maybe one month) at least. I will push the tank guy to deliver the 180 gal. sooner.

I already have two huge sponge-filters in the 30 gal. tank which I plan to move to the 180 gal. as soon as I clean the tank. With the bacterial colonies from the filter media to hasten the process, I presume cycling the tank will be relatively quicker.

I know that. However, Pleco species which are locally available (in Bombay, India) are really ugly. (At least the ones I saw are ugly).

Thank you all for your input,

I have some 3 inch bala sharks in with a 7 inch silver aro. I bought the balas first and then I bought the aro when he was just 2 inches. I haven't had any problems so far and only feed the aro pellets (never live food).
