How compatable are the different Poly species?

I ask because I am thinking of getting 2 or 3, but in my past experience I had a Senegal that attacked my Delhezi, even though the Del was bigger.

Im thinking of ordering a couple of different Poly's from my LFS. My favorite Poly's are the Delhezi, Mokelembembe, Ansorgii, Palmas Buettikoferi, & the Weeksii.

So, out of the above list, what 3 do you think would get along the best, all in a 72g (I was told having at most 3 in a 72g should not be a problem, with the possibility of adding 1 or 2 more, unless I was misinformed)?

Also, The Del went in the tank first, then 2 months later I got the Sen. Could that have been the problem? That I didnt add them both in at the same time? I know when stocking your supposed to put all fish in at the same time. I would have figured though that the Del would have been the one to attack the Sen, not the other way around.

I am going to try and add them all at the same time, but if I am unable to do so, what would you suggest I do? Add them anyway and hope they get along, or..?

Thank for any help and info guys.

usually if you keep them well fed they will not fight for territory.

My 4½ inch endli bit my 2 inch delh to death.
Ma endli was biting my delh's head and kept holding on till he suffocates. :(
It has lots of hiding place too in the bogwoods.
I'm not sure why but I always kept my polys full.

Yea, the Sen usually just bit at the Dels fins, would always chase it and bite it, I fed them a lot, shoulda been fine..

So in mostly everyones experience, your Poly's have always gotten along?

My male 18+" Ornate dominates my other 2 15"-16" Polys...Even after well fed. He bites the others and fights them away from his territory under the driftwood.

Real mixed bag as far as poly aggression experiances. Myself I have had virtually no issues aside from the real occasional tail nipping in a tank with dels, sen, endi, congi, ornate, laps, ansorgii hy and weeksii. As far as an addition timetable, I have never found poly's to be overally territorial. I also feel that avoiding live foods helps keep aggression down.

Agree with JamesF on scrapping the Weeksii. Absolutly no way full grown Weeksii should be kept in 72g.

Good luck and share some pics when you get the new guys in.

My LFS has 2 Dels (approx. 2") for $55.00 each and 3 Endli's (Approx 3") for $55.00 each. Is that a good price?

Endli's would get too big for a 72g, though, right? I would be better off getting the 2 Dels, and maybe something else later down the line?

Also, The 2 Dels he had looked really pale, with only a few black stripes. My set up is black background, black sand, and dark deco. That should bring their colors back, right? I mean, I expect a Delhezi to look like my avatar picture, not a Sen with a few more spots...

These pics were taken at the LFS. Thought I’d mention that so I wasn’t attacked for the pink gravel.

The Endli, at least I think its an Endli, it was labeld as 'Saddled Bichir';

And the 2 Dels (under the plastic plant, may be hard to see, may have to zoom in);

Any ideas/info?

This is most probably delh's but not sure cause the pics were not clear and close enough.I can say that all of the bichir experts can hardly identify it for ya mate.Just take a closer shot of the whole body! :)
