Compatability of different species?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Look like dels to me, and endli will outgrow your 72g tank, stick with the dels. And your dark tank should help with the colors. And those prices are pretty expensive, my Lfs sells dels for 20-25$ and I bet they are cheaper else where. Btw dels are awesome, grow big an thick but not too long, and get nice colors.

He said he could give me a discount, not sure of how much though. I guess I’ll go the Delhezi route then, they’re one of my favorite Polys anyway.

How much do Buettikoferi normally run? I may be able to have him order one or 2, if they are not overly expensive.

How would that work out? 2 Dels and 2 Buettikoferi in a 72g?

Also, does the activity level in fish depend on the fish itself? My last Del was reeeealy lazy, moved to eat and that was it, but my Sen was all over. Does it depend on species or just the fish itself? I want to know how active the Dels and Buettikoferi are, that way if they're lazy, I can get some more active fish to fill in the top and middle of the tank...

Activity is very fish dependent. There are certain species that are generally going to be more or less active, but individuals prevail.
As for cost, that is completely dependent on your local prices. Someone can't really say that a price is super high or super cheap. They can just compare to their local prices, which are ALL over the map. Some people would jump at a del being sold that cheap where they are.

Cool, sounds good, guess i'll have to put money aside just get em.

How would 2 Dels and 2 Buettikoferi do in a 72g? Is that enough room for them? And would there be room for a couple top-mid swimmers, if I wanted to add some?

Yea, for sure. The Dels are only about 2" right now, so if I order some Beutts i'll have to see if I can get some smaller ones. If not, i'll have to hold off till the Dels get a bit bigger.

I feel really ripped off too, I know buying new is kinda stupid, but when I bought my 72g, it cost me over $1,200. I was at my LFS and saw a 120g bowfront/stand for $900. I already have everything i'd need, so it would be $900, flat out. I hate when I find better, bigger tanks for cheaper than what I got.

Dude, just keep on a constant hunt on CL, I have never come close to spending that much money and I have a 300, 150, 125, 45, 40, 20, couple of tens and so on.

Holy shetoki mushrooms, that's one hefty price tag. :WHOA: My 75 gallon with built in sump and nice black stand, heaters, cover, etc. everything I needed (cept for a new light bulb), only $160 on CL.

I'm with Kevin, defiantly search on CL. :)

But don't dwell on it now, I know what it's like to find something bigger/better then what you have. Not knowing the price of used tanks, I bought a 55 gallon set up (with crappy filters, heaters, etc.) used on CL a year back for $400 (ya..I was dumb).
