Hey so i have a 20 gallon community tank currently stocked with these fish:
5 Zebra Danios
4 Gold Barbs
3 Platies
2 Cherry Barbs
1 Bristlenosed Pleco
1 Ghost Shrimp

And this stocking ratio has been a slight increase over several months with fish that come and go. Recently my fishes have been starting to die unexpectedly. Zebra Danios, Gold Barbs, and Cherry Barbs have been lost and the next day their bodies are hollow and theres nothing inside. I was wondering what the problem might be? I really have no clue as to what it is because the tank has been run for 2-3 years and although fish come and go in this tank, this past month has resulted in more deaths. Water changes/ temperature/ pH/ quality are all fine.

What are your water parameters? It is possible that your fish simply died a few hours ago and then eaten apart.

Sometimes when you see dead fish in stores' tanks, the other fish (usually algae eaters and sometimes plecos) will be eating their guts. Is that what you meant by "hollow inside"? As to the actual cause of death, dunno....

I have two bristlenose pleco and they do eat other fish if they are hungrey enough but its more likely that they died and its just the clean up crew

78 degrees, 7.0 ph, waterchanges 12 gallons each week; the body was hollow like if a pleco had eaten its guts. and these fish ive had for some time before they spontaneously died

Please post your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

last time i checked they were all 0 and that was last week
What test kit did you use? Is the tank heavily planted?

Well alot of those fish in your list only have a 2-3 year lifespan. Longevity is not something present among those kinds of fish. How long can a goldfish live? 30 Years? A red devil 15? Yeah a zebra danio or a platty, good luck if you get 2 out of it.
