Depends on the individual fish concerned, and their respective sizes, but from personal experience C.aurantimaculata are very, very aggressive. I would say micros, striata and aurantis are the worst. Also depends (as always) with the amount of space available.

as for my observation, the channa melasoma is more aggressive than the micros...

try to mix them and see the result.. :)

wow IME i have found auranti's to be aggressive only to other Auranti.'s. I bought two to add to my snakehead tank and had to take one out cos it was getting beaten by the other. But left my stewartii and gachua alone.

Yes, it does seem to be more acute with each other, Tom Halvorsen and Richard Hardwick at Wharf both commented to me that unless you have a compatable pair in a tank you would very quickly end up with one fish... The 12" auranti I had was a beast, until my 18" Asian Arowana hammered him, shredded fins, all of them, so I took him back to Wharf. Even though the Aro must have had at least 6 times his body mass (weight) he would not back of though. And there had been no aggression between them at all until that morning. The Aro also had a sly pop at my Brachyplatystoma tigrinum, causing major trauma (that cost me £85 for a vet's bill).
It transpired that my Aro had "form", I contacted the previous owner (another Wharf customer) through aquarist classifieds and he said it had killed quite a few of his fish on the sly, he never seen it, it was always as good as gold when he was looking at the tank, then splash, bang, a new corpse....
