compatable?

I have 8 yellow labs that have been cross breeding with my blue zebras. I plan to get rid of the zebras but i do want something that can take their place. I dont want to cross breed. I was thinking maybe Johanni cichlids? Are they as laid back as yellow labs? any other ideas would be great! Thanks for the help.

The Johanni cichlids if they are like the auratus will be a little bit agressive perhaps, in my opinion it all depends on tanks size and territory availability....I keep my yellos labs with aulonocara rubescens, frontosas, ahli's, venustus, maylandia greshakei...they all do well...good luck choosing, there are many many beautiful fish that would look nice

I would add a large group of demasoni depending on the tank size. They look great with labs.

I like the blue ahli as well. Hmm both are good. Ill give more info and maybe you guys can help me with my decision. My tank is a 90 gallon with a lot of rock work. I have a lot of filtration. I dont know what more you guys need to help me with my dilemma.

They'll leave the labs alone. They are only really aggressive with one another. Which is why they need to be stocked in higher numbers. Lots of people keep demasoni with labs without problems.

I think the demasoni is an excellent choice. I would get 15 or so. They won't cross breed and it'll make a nice display tank.

Blue Johanni are related to the auractus. They are HIGHLY aggressive (as I own one).

For labs, you could get peacocks. They would do fine together.

Peacocks are more passive than demasoni. Demasoni is very very territorial. I keep one demasoni with no problem in my mixed african cichlid thank cause I have 125 gal. and he is one of the smallest in my tank. But sometimes he can hit my larger cichlids. I would recomend peacocks.
