Nice tank cant wait to see the article.

For the truly lazy people there are companies that cometo your house and do all the maintenance for you.

i used to do it the old fashion way, ladder, siphon on a stick and lots o' buckets and patience! if you are passionate about your hobbies or anything, you dont even care how long, tedious or difficult the hard parts may be, you do it cuz you lub it :)

my tank is a 6'L x 18"D x 20"T and it takes about 35-50 min to do a 35% WC weekly....i do a gravel vac first then leave my vac in there while i scrape the glass then get the hose and start filling.....sometimes it can take longer if i reannage my rockwork

Sorry guys, I disagree.

You don't have to love doing long, dirty, smelly, tedious or difficult maintenance to be passionate about your hobbies.

I am passionate about my hobbies so I continuous think and try to figure out ways to minimize wasting time doing the dirty work so I can have more time to enjoy watching, feeding, decorating the tanks.

I can tolerate doing the dirty maintenance because I love my hobby. Doing dirty work do not enhance my enjoyment or define my passion.

Chomper's tank is ideal, in my opinion.

I vacuum my 2000gallon once a year or less. Maintenance is generally easier on a large tank. I flip a couple levers for water changes and filter cleaning. The most work is window cleaning, which isn't that much work at all. I do that every 2 weeks.

When it does get vacuumed, I use a thin weighted wetsuit and a long snorkel fasten to overhead hooks so that I can work uninterrupted.

How does the water changes system work? Very interested in flipping a couple of levers kind of easy system.

Its been about 6 mo since I have vac'd my tank. The WC system keeps the parameters perfect all the time. I just have to clean for aesthetic reasons, to which, I am due.

May I know more about your WC system?
