i have recently got into fish keeping and days upon days of research i know what's the basic's of keeping most fish from tetras to gigas, from cichlid to cichlid but something research will never explain are compatibility of fish with extreme personality my 'apparently agressive' red claw lobster which was advised that it would kill all my current stock and so far no problem's my real problem is my 2 month old green terror jamp out last nite:cry: and i LOVE at least 1 cichlid per tank and im wondering what kind of cichlid can i add im looking for peacful towards other's(obv. not other cichlid's) im interested in colourful/beutiful cichlid's jaguar, pike's, earth eater's etc. my current stock is 3 3inch tinfoil barb's, 1 3 inch red claw lobster and two hitch hikers (x2 1/2inch tetras of some sort) may also be getting a senegal bichir. would this work or have i lost the plot? p.s. no green terror's, oscar's (my dad has 8 juvies in his 65gal) + nothing that gets like 15-19inches trying to keep all of my stock under 2 foot p.s.s. ]v[ F K has helped so much

What most people are going to ask is,"What size tank do you have?" Tinfoils get rather large and are jumpers, tetras will get eaten by a large number of cichlids. Are you wanting another cichlid? I assume you do from posting this here, but I'm not sure. A little more info about your set up and I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions.

punctuation > you

what size tank? that will make choice of fish alot easier. also what types of cichlids do you have available to you?

20 gal I KNOW its TOO small but my dads upgrading so birthday next week ill be getting my dads fully cycled 65gal tank as he has decided his pair i will be back in 10-20 mins cheers

thats pretty small for most of the cichlids mentioned, and the tinfoils will still be too big for the tank you will be getting

sorry i just visited my lfs and to be honest... they had very little but i spotted a beautiful jaguar and i asked a couple questions about how he was feeding and stuff then came i asked if he was arguing and fighting with anything and a simple 'no' he was quite docile compared to the firemouths and jack dempseys in his tank, swimming with the aro i bought him on impulse cos he was in really good shape and didnt look aggresive + any bad behaviour and the shops not even 1/4 of a mile away :D he can just be returned but please keep up the suggestions incase this doesnt work out

i know i will have to give them back when they grow bigger im not as sad as to dump them in a river or anything i know 2 shops with the tank size to accomadate these hand ins 1 has a 130gal and other has a what looks like a 250-300 gal and ive sort of set a size for handing them in i kinda baught them when my uncle handed his 6 inch clown knife i got his store credit and bought them being a newbie

He's kinda settled a bit stressed everythings fine hes left my tinfoils and investigated my cray which replyed with a nip but he just carried on and most normal is that hes trying to kill my hitch hiking tetras hmm if i find a good looking pike cichlid i may trade him in but to be honest the only 1 ive seen in eastern scotland and he looks well... just down right ill also would a pike cichlid suit a 65 gal im buying all my fish at a small size cos my dads exp with a 12 inch hand in oscar was quite wierd move any thing in the tank after a w/c he'd take a huff for a week spitting out foods, lying on his side, moveing plants rocks etc. just asking but are good looking pikes pricey/suitable for a semi agressive community tank:cheers:

bump for answers either that or i end up overstocking a tank full of pacu's
p.s. communitised :hitting:
