im planning on doing a breeding pair of jags. right now i have about 7 baby (<2.5") jaguars growing out in a 36x18x24h 65 gallon. im waiting for them to pair off so i can get my pair and move them to a 125, 150, or 180. anyway im wondering if i can keep a common pleco in with them? i was thinking it might work since they are little right now and i purchased a larger pleco (around 5-6") what do you guys think? i think if they grow up together it might work.

The pleco should be fine until your pair has eggs. My pair were fine in a community setting until they laid eggs, then EVERYTHING became a target. I had to remove all other fish once they spawned.

My 10" male jag ripped a big plec up without a female even present its still in my treatment tank now after three weeks its gettin there still big chunks missin off him though

I wouldn't so much be concerned about the pleco as I would be the breeding Jags. Plecos are notorious for eating eggs when the lights go out

I've had several Jags, and none of them bothered my plecos. Even had a breeding pair. They were in a 125 with other cichlids, and a 225 with the same fish (they all just got bigger). Plecos were fine, even when they laid eggs and had fry.

Like all cichlids I suppose it depends on the fish you've got there , mines evil seen off loads of fish in past few years
