I think I'm going to go with the anoles for now, and maybe slowly add a fire-belly toad or two. I greatly appreciate all of your suggestions!

if you have a red eared slider you, can get the "turtle topper", an enclosed basking platform, this will allow you to keep the two seperated, the anole can just bask on top of the platform. As for frogs or toads, I'd not put them in with a turtle, they are a natural food source for turtles. I collect them in the summer for my turtles.
