Jags > most of the other stuff in there, rehome your peaceful fish and keep the jag! Sevs are pretty tough mine do well with my jag.

yeah, that's what i wanted to try. also, the fish is more like 2.5-3 inches as of now. i'm be moving my peaceful dudes to a tank in our guest room and just kinda see how it goes. i've read that they can definitely be bastards and absolutely vicious, but once in a while there's a mellow one.

when she bought him, he was in a tank with small sevs and jds, and he's got scales missing and stuff like he's been beaten up. maybe he won't be too bad. but again, i absolutely DO have a place to rehome him if it does get ugly. or rehome the victims, if need be.

actually ive from this a member with 17+ in jag the guys name was greenterra look him up on youtube hes jag is a monster

here's what i'm doing. I've got a 55 malawi tank - i'm rehoming the malawis, moving 2 of the sevs into that tank, along with, the wavrini - leaving a few large geos, the clown loaches, the rts, and the aggressive guys - the salvini (you guys are right ! that guys a ****ER. so mean), JD, green terror, jag, and MAYBE a female festae - but that's probably waiting until we do our 10 foot 300 gallon. does that sound viable? (the pearl gourami is going into the 30, and the moonlight into the 55) - chocolate cichlid is probably moving to 55 (so, moonlight, 2 sevs, and chocoloate in the 55 - clowns, pleco, gt, jd, jag, and probably not a female festae in 125. and the four large geos (like 10 inches)

any thoughts? i want this to work - but i want my fish to be safe and comfortable. i would love a female festae - i think it would really tie the tank together, but only if they will all be comfortable and safe

also - ALL of my fake plants are coming out - going to do rocks and driftwood only like one of those super cool.

cichlids should be fine, i would watch the salvini, it is a female yes?
if so you shouldnt expect as much problems, the gourami need to go
probably the loaches too, Id keep the cichlids together and everyone
else in another tank.

honestly, i am way more worried about my eartheaters than my clown loaches. i feel like the clowns will be okay? anybody have any experience here? they've been fine so far, but i understand that a jag is in a higher 'tier' of aggressiveness than the jd, gt, salvini, etc. the yoyos will most likely be moved (would they be okay in a 30 gallon? i've got blue loaches in my 55 with africans, and they probably wouldn't stand a chance against those guys. this is actually my ideal setup:

rehome africans in 55:

move from 125 to 55:

1 severum, moonlight gourami, yoyo loaches, wavrini, (possibly RTS)
move to 30 gallon - pearl gourami (maybe yoyos, but that sounds insanely cramped)
(the 30 gallon is going to be a ram/apisto tank)
1 chocolate cichlid (this little bastard is actually insanely mean. beats on the terror to no end)
move blue loaches from 55 to 125, leaving the following in the 125:

2 severums (green and rotkiel) i have 4 presently, but dont know if 2 would fit in a 55, and so might rehome one of my sevs to a trusted friend with the space to keep him
1 jack dempsey, male
1 managuense, still only 2.5-3 inches (gender unknown)
1 salvini ( not terribly sure but i think female - has black splotch on operculum and fin, fins are somewhat rounded, but vague enough for it to be confusing - i can post a pic) this one is very aggressive. it is the only fish in the tank with no damage at all. my fish are all very healthy, but definitely have been nipped a bit.
1 green terror, male
4 blue loaches (???)
6 clown loaches (??? are these 2 compatible?)
6 geophagus abalios, about 4 inches at present.

so, would that work? oh, i also want a female festae, if it's possible. if thats too risky, i wont touch it. i've said it before, i love my fish, i sing to them, i name them, i would never want to see any one of them harmed when it could have been avoided.

i am planning on getting a 10X2X2 tank sometime in the not-too-distant future

like i said, my biggest concern was really the geos. i know they get big but, aren't they rather peaceful? i am prepared to do whatever i have to do to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

your thoughts?

All that because you got ONE new fish! Don't you just love this hobby? :D

ahahahaha. yeah. that's the fun part. i got back into it a year ago, with a 30 gallon tank. i wanted three spot gouramis. went to the store to buy a 55, came home with 90. then i wanted severums. 2 months later, had a 125. now i want a festae. time for the 300.

hey guys I thought I'd update on here. I've moved the gouramis out, and a few other softies. The jag is enormous and really not bothering anyone. He still gets pushed around by the 5 inch chocolate cichlid. He's definitely not above slamming a fish or 2 out of the way for food, but otherwise, he has his little spot and all is well.

My terror is 7 inches and is a total wimp. Salvini is gone, skinned the JD alive, literally. Growing out a dovii and cycling 2 more tanks to move the sevs and geos for what's to come. haha.

You were right about that salvini man. Vicious little *******s.

I had to remove my Sal as well, he was trying to spawn with my gold suam female - beat the living crap outta her.
