Ok, I feel kinda stupid asking this, but I have a 7-inch Silver Arowana in a 55g grow-out tank, to be moved to a 350g grow-out and then to an indoor pond. Would I be ok putting a Black Arowana in with him in the 55, if they were similar in size?

Most likely they would tear each other up, but the only way to really know is to try it. If you do try it ,you'd better have another tank ready to immediately move one to if things go bad.

this is very good advice - always good to have a spare tank for when things dont always go to plan!

or a tank devider.

but then they'd only have like 27 gallons of swim room each good idea just not right for this situation

Trail and Error, i would put them together and see how they respond to eachother. If you see aggression then you ought to take one out but with silver i notice if you put three or four together most of the time they get less territorial. The reason is that they dont know which one to go after if they do get in the chase. Try it out and let us know.

I have 2 silvers(15"and 10") together and they are great together--no fights ever... I added a little jar(6") last night. I was prepared and did have to move the 2 silvers to the big tank. That little jar is a mean ***..lol. My silvers are fine together so I had to try my experiment:screwy:. My point is -- I was prepared to move/separate them. No damage to any of the fish--I just had to try.

Good luck/be prepared,
Chris
