40gal hell no. start with a 100 gal for small rays, but friend you in ca know one will sell you rays here.

Aside from the rays in CA being a no-no, rays prefer soft and neutral to acidic conditions. ATFs come from hard alkaline waters.
Notwithstanding the validity of your post, since most of us keep all our fish in water as it comes out of the tap, never mind if they like acid or alkaline, it does not really matter if the fish need the opposite, does it?

I don't know who "most of us" are. I don't keep my fish in straight tapwater. And, judging by posts from ray keepers and high-end oddball keepers, most do something to balance water chemistries to the fish. Even if it's something simple like adding aragonite or holey rock to african cichlid tanks or driftwood and lava rock to ray tanks.

I might have overestimated my numbers.
I might not be "most", but nor am I least
I insist.

I assumed that you treat your water, but you are a professional.

I don't even have a test kit and ignore the chemistry of the water in my tanks. I assumed MANGCH1 to be even more ignorant since he plans on keeping a P.Motoro in a 40g.

Wow, I completely missed the part about the 40gal tank. I just looked at the mix of fishes. And, thanks for calling me a professional. I'm just a fish hobbyist who's been in the game for over 40 years. I used to just mix whatever fish I liked together. But, after many losses, I learned to adapt the environments to best suit the species I was keeping in each tank.
