Hello,

I am looking for a suitable fish for my 2 foot coldwater tank. It contains 2 5" common goldfish, jave farn and a bunch of anubias plants. Both of which are growing well.

I have tried to keep the hong kong plec's in the past without success.

The only potential stumbling block could be the temperature. In the winter it gets down to 50 degrees and approximatly 75 degrees in the summer.

I recall seeing a fish called a golden sucking loach in a magazine a while ago but I have not seen anything since.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Chinese algae eaters get very agressive/territorial as they mature, they can turn into little horrors.

How many gallons is this tank and what is its exact measurements?
Are you aware that your goldfish are on the point of outgrowing this tank and it should be upgraded very soon to something larger?

Does the tank have any filtration, and if so, what type and how many gallons does it claim to filter up to?

What kind of goldfish are they? Common goldfish/Koi/Comets are pretty tough themselves and would do well with chinese algae eaters. You could also go with Flying Foxes

otocinclus catfish. all they eat is algea and decaying stuff. Also not agressive/ territorial at all. I have them with my discus in my planted tank. I added a dozen and within a day the algea was completley gone.

Otocinclus are more known to consume diatom-related algae rather than decaying stuffs.

those are fish food to goldfish

Snails such as the apple snails which are large in size won't be swallow by goldfish. ;)
