Compatible catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only catfish likely to eat fins and scales would be a pleco. Try and find a big gibbiceps pleco. They are much nicer than the common ones.
I used to have one that was 14" so it would be great with cichla.

BTW, why would you have fins and scales needed to be eaten?

I feed live, why wouldnt i have fins and scales that needed to be eaten?

Thanks for the replys i guess i will just pick up some sort of large pleco.

fins and scales dont really do much to your water......

mite be ridiculous to u but i would suggest just get them off of live.... its risky since lotsa feeders carry disease/ parasites ... and they arent that nutritious .... get them on pellets... then you won't have to worry bout fins and scale, and also u wont have to add a big catfish or pleco that will only create more waste than it can take ...

My plan is to get them off of live but right now my mono is only about 5.5". And i am going to wait for him to put on a little more size.

Even if you're using massivore, food sticks, or any other dry food live food is ALWAYS better. I've noticed that experienced cichla keepers keep their cichlas strictly on a live food diet only. you just have to know how to keep your live feeders healthy. gutting them up right before you feed them to your cichla is very common practice.

:iagree: And i would continue feeding live but rather then every day, a few times a week. I just want the option of pellets, food sticks etc. Its much easier on the wallet.
