Just wanted to start a thread that some might find helpful/interesting. We have quite a few threads on plywood tanks but there really isn't a one stop place to sort through them all. So I decided to make a thread dedicated to highlighting plywood tanks on MFK.

There are a few rules for what I consider what qualifies as a plywood tank and what I consider a successful plywood tank:

1. It must (obviously) rely on plywood for some part of the tank structure.
2. It must have a viewing window.
3. There must at least be shots of the tank filled with water (preferably with stock). While searching I've seen some tanks that lasted one day before leaking but I'll count them as a success because they held water initially. And really when I thought about it its a bit difficult to decide how long a tank should hold water before it can be considered a success.

Also I've noticed on some of the older threads the pics stopped working. Even though I've seen these threads myself when the pics worked and can vouch that they worked unfortunately without pics there isn't a lot to see or enjoy. I'll still post them in hopes of the pics coming back up but I guess well have to wait and see.

The layout for my posts will be:

How many gallons the tank holds with title of thread

A link to the thread.

Then a picture showing off the completed tank.

On to the tanks.

Whew, I'm gonna take a break but there's still quite a bit more. Also, random side note, during all of my searching it seems for every successful thread there are roughly five failures/DNFs.

My hope for this thread is to help those who are interested in building their own plywood tank by showing them good examples from start to finish. That way they can get a good idea of what works what doesn't work and what materials and costs they might face. I know the search function can do this too but these awesome start to finish threads are buried and it can be difficult to find them.

Great post. Good candidate for a sticky with a few more posts... does a good job of putting all the reference material in one place, even if it's too old for most people to find.

Thanks I appreciate the kind words. With that the post I did that pretty much was all of the plywood tanks I could find at this time. That would be 28 plywood tanks start to finish. So far I'm open to suggestions for any that I missed. Later I'll try some different searches and see if I can find some more. Maybe I'll do another post that lists all of the incomplete ones that have no resolution. If I do list all of the incomplete builds it would just be a list of the threads. The only builds I'll post in picture format will be the start to finish ones.

Funny how when you go looking for the ones you recall, so many of them are unfinished. Nice to know how many people have the same project ADD I do.
