thanks for all the replies everybody. Someone made a suggestion to make its open source so that people can add to it when it is done. I am more than happy to do so however I don't know what i'm allowed to distribute just yet because its part of my degrees final project. This project is ending around early may. So hopefully i'll have everything done if not i fail. After i am done with the project i will be adding to it on my own time however because this is a personal project it won't be at the top of my list of priorities. I still have to make a database for my company and i've been trying to find the time to make one for the last 3 years. but the program will be made exclusive to mfk members once i'm happy with it.
Thank you all again for your contributions to the questionnaire. Next I will be making a prototype for the layout of the software, will probably be using powerpoint or something so i might need a few testers. will keep you lot updated tho. spanks

done, and good project. As an "add on" and to expand on the idea of remote management, would be an app to port it out to a web interface. What language are you programming in?

I started earlier that i will not be concerned with the hardware side of this project. I'm doing a degree in comp sci and we don't learn about electronics. I will be simulating the inputs and outputs of the USB board using software. For example I will write a small simulation program that would send a temperature reading to the USB board and the aquarium software will receive the reading from the USB board. I'll be writing this in VB
I will concentrate on the hardware side of the project once i am done with the university project. If anyone can help me with the hardware side I will be very grateful. I hope to eventually release the software to MFK once i've learnt how to wire up the board and write a step by step instruction on how to wire up the board.

here's the update of whats happening so far. I used freeonlinesurveys.com to get 50 free replies for my questionnaire. However if you go over that yuo can't view the results for the first 50 without paying. So basically i just paid 10 quid to get a subscriptions. Which means I get up to 1000 responses. So if anyone hasn't filled out the questionnaire yet could you please fill it out? Thanks again.
