Dell GX280
CPU Speed: 3.2
Description: Pentium 4 3.2GHz (LGA775), 512MB DDR2 RAM (3 free slots), 160GB SATA Hard Drive, PCI-Express slot, 3 x PCI slots, DVD/CDRW Combo, 2 front USB slots, 6 rear USB slots.

Getting that for under $200 from a friend, well taken care of, lightly used.

I'll be using that as my system for sound engineering and video editing.

It'll be as is for awhile, but I can eventually upgrade the ram easy, and cheap, and add a video card.

SO then, what do you guys think ? It'll basically just go online, and use pro-tools.

EDIT: I have multiple external hard drives, the projects i'll be doing have to go back and forth to school with me. SO if this PC had a 40g HD it wouldn't matter.

HD isn't a problem, i have multiple 200g external hard drives for projects. I should have said that in the beginning.

GOOD DEAL IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANY GAMING OR GRAPHICS, DDR2 GOOD,PCI EXPRESS GOOD, P4 3.2 LGA775 BAD, ONLY WAY TO UPGRADE THERE IS NEW MOTHERBOARD, IF YOU DO GO WITH ASUS WITH QUAD 4 PROCESSOR

Im going to be getting either an Acer AL2216WBD 22" or Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen LCD monitor, an XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX graphics card, overclocked from factory and 1gig of ram. I also have a 600w power supply to toss in to replace the 350w supply in there already. This will cost me $360 to $440 depending on what monitor and ram I choose.

I think the processor is solid, with this graphics card and either 1 or 2gigs of ram (Depending what I want to spend)

Im actually getting this PC for nearly free, since my aunt can get it for me through her company she's picking it up for my xmas present... which is very nice, so as a free platform to build on, this PC is excellent, it'll be great for my sound and video editing, as well as a bit of gaming. And down the line when I want something more powerful I can upgrade to an Asus mobo and a new Pentium (Pent's apparently work better for what im doing then AMD's, but I prefer amd :()

If you want amd theres one Phenom 2.3 gig out and i think theres a 2.2 quad core out.
But if your going to drop 200$ to upgrade an older pc your probably better off building one from scratch.

Looks good other than the fact that it's a dell

(I can't stand Dell.....bad experiences)
