That is what i found out when i just went there.. i have all that on my pc already and i perform that on a regular basis so i quess that isn't the problem.. thanks though it is good to know.. the registry said they could save me 6 percent space.. i had plenty of space.. so that would not help,

I use Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG Anti-Spyware program, CCleaner and Avast Antivirus on my computers. All of these programs are available as freeware from various download sites including www.downloads.com. I have used Registry Mechanic and loved it, but unless there's a totally freeware version that I haven't found yet, the downloadable version is a trial and only good for like 30 or 60 days. After that you have to pay I think $20 or $30 (worth it in my opinion but I'm a little short on cash right now so I haven't purchased it yet). I did recently download a program called Abexo Free Registry Cleaner but haven't used it enough to give a real opinion of it.

First thing I would do if I were you would be get rid of anything from Symantec and download Avast antivirus. This is the best totally free antivirus program out there, imo. I also really liked AVG anti-virus but I believe the freeware version is no longer available. The problem with Symantec (Norton) and McAfee anti-virus programs is that unless you pay for the subscriptions to be able to download the monthly updates, then your computer isn't protected from new viruses as they come out. with Avast, the program itself as well as all updates are free. Don't install another antivirus program though without removing everything from Symantec, and that can sometimes be difficult to do. Once Symantec programs are on your computer they don't always like to come off. :)

Oh, and more RAM always helps. :D

why do you guys suggest ad-ware programs? why not just run a virtual PC and use that one to install and search for your pawn (that's where most of your spy/virus crap comes from) :P

Just press your windows button then press the U key like a crazy person!

Thank you everyone for your help.. i have gone to the different sites you mentioned and i am going to use a trial version of the spy sweeper.. or one of the others... very interesting about avast.. i am tempted to try it not just because it is free but because consumers reports that it did do a good job with virus protection... i am sooooo use to using symantec almost like brain washed about it.. but since i started using it i have always had one problem or the other..you mentioned how it is sometimes hard to remove ..that was one of my problems.. i wanted to install the new version and could not get the old version out.. i am about to do a new one again.. because my expiration is coming up.. thinking about putting the avast in after i take the Symantec out.I appreciate all your replys and it did give me alot of insight.. now wish me luck.. ha ha;) .
