Just make sure the driver for the card is working and updated. If you can't fix it that way, then yes, you need a new card.

you should be seeing something similar to this:

if you have onboard sound then you need the driver from the motherboard disc that came with the pc. or you need to go to the computer manufacturers website (dell, hp, et) and find your comp model then download the software for it.

if you do indeed have a separate card then its off to the shop for you.

yeah i installed the drivers from the manufacturer site with no luck... ima have to bring it into best buy and see what they have to say.
