Anyone automated their tanks yet ?

i am working on a plc ( programmable logic control) monitor / alarm system

levels, motor current . heater function, lights etc:)

Yes I have an older model of Aquadynes Octopus 2000 which you can use to control and/or monitor (and trigger alarms). Currently I only monitor ORP on some hightly intensive recirculating systems due to the dollar value of stock. It will trigger alarms and switch on various backup systems as you desire. I recommend you simply use your wits and powers of observation as a general rule but there are some situations where this technology is warranted. Ive set mine to call designated mobile phone numbers and add pure oxygen (cylinder tanks) in staggered stages of unresponse and emergency.

for example.... i have four 6000 watt heaters.

be nice to known when one fails....the plc can watch when it should be on and that it is drawing current....if its on and no current it would indicate a problem etc

WOW!!, great lighting system:headbang2

WOW... you guys are serious about your fish LOL... I havn't ever really considered computerizing my systems here (and I'm a programmer by trade LOL) I simply like the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method as it's always been able to work for the set ups I've had... mind you I'm obviously not in the 20K gallon public aquaium tanks that some of you are ;) "JOHN!!!" I thought displaying all the temperatures from all my tanks in one place was about as hi-tech as I'd get...I may have to rethink that though now that I know what some of you are doing LOL
