Nice! I saw Con x Tex hybrids before but this one is amazing! Keep me posted on how big this hybrid grows.

Thanks. I'd seen some before and they weren't anything to write home about. They were a good size though. Males and females about 6-8". I'm expecting her to get at least 4" and maybe hit 6".

Wow, look at the color in the fins. Yea, I'd have forked over the 5 bucks, too.

lol thanks. Yeah I really dig the little white pearlies and the green in her fins is nice too.

NOPE.
Unfortunately most of the good shops are in OC.
If you're ever in San Diego there's a place called Pet Kingdom worth visiting. They had a lot of awesome stuff but most of the staff are d*cks so I don't think I'll go there again.
Underwater Depot in Sherman Oaks gets some interesting stuff in from time to time.
Tongs Tropical Fish in Whittier has some good stuff too.
I also really like Tiki's Fish and Pets in Bellflower. All these places have some nice SA/CA's from time to time.

i have a couple of these. my best female is about 4inches. good luck with her.

Thanks. They're everywhere, unfortunately most of the time they're being sold as something else.

Like this guy I purchased as "Gymnogeophagus sp. Catalan".

I told the shop-owner they were firemouth x con hybrids but couldn't figure out exactly which species crossed. He insisted they were Gymnogeos cause the guy that brought them bred a lot of neat things. I bought them to see if I could figure out what the parents might have been and I think fm x cutteri. Sad thing is I've seen them pop up in a few other SoCal shops so I guess they're getting around.

And then these:

These were some of the sexiest looking hybrids I'd ever seen. They were salvini x carpintis. The sad part was that they were being sold as umbees for almost $20 a piece.

LOL I hope so. Right now she's more of a clown. She swims funny too. She'll swim normally then stop and slowly bob side to side then swim off again. Plus she likes to closely hug whatever she's swimming around so I often get to see her hanging out vertically or upside down against wood or sponge filters.

Yeah I think you're right about both of those hybrids. Cutteri X firemouth and salvini carpintis. LOL @ umbies.. I could see somebody who doesn't know easily buying that..
